Roses are Red, Wednesdays are Pink!

So today I would like to share with you, my lovely followers, all of my favorite things pink!

I have recently switched my morning face washing routine from the oh so expensive Aveda product system to  much more affordable grapefruit themed morning routine!

Summer Styles 026

I start my morning with chocolate chip waffles and my Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub. This oil-free acne wash is by far one of the best fac washes and best smelling face washes I have ever used! The foaming aspect makes me feel like I am really getting clean and removing all of the dirt and oil from my face and the microbeads polishes off the dead skin and really helps prevent my skin from drying out. After pat drying my face I apply a small amount (less than a pump) of my new favorite moisturizer.   Yes to grapefruit has a nice thick, gel-like feel as it is applied to my face and also smells amazing! The best part is that it not only keeps my face at the perfect level of hydration all day but it also correct and repairs my skin! At the begging of this summer I had some small acne scars and had trouble with redness in my T-zone, but now that I have been using Yes religiously, I have a much much more even skin tone!

After my daily face washing routine, I head to my closet to find my favorite pink shirt!

I have recently purchased this cute little Lauren Conrad tank from Kohl’s and the necklace from JCPenny’s and spend less than $25 on both! On a lazy day like today I will be pairing this tank/necklace combo with my favorite pair of lightwash distressed boyfriend jeans from Guess.

Lastly, I would like to share with you these wonderful and Oh-So-Cute Urbanear headphones!

I bought these little cuties from Best Buy last summer and they have been with me through every outfit and occasion from camping to carrides!

Cool Colors

On hot summer days today (it’s almost 90 degrees in little old Newbury, OH), it can be hard keep occupied without getting overheated. It’s too hot to go hiking or biking, the zoo animals are lazy, and standing in line for two hours to go down a chlorine filled water slide sounds like the last thing I want to do. Instead, I have opted for a much more relaxing way to spend my day. I am going to paint my nails the coolest coldest color I can find in my collection and start the book I bought a my favorite bookstore last week. (See Shopping in Chagrin Falls for details)

My nails polish collection is impressive and contains many different brands and tons of different colors but my favorite nail polish brand by far is Essie. My first ever nail polish purchase was an Essie nail polish and I have been hooked ever since. I love the square little bottles and the perfectly creative names for each and every color. I love how the brushed seem to always pick up the right amount of polish each time and how the color glides over every nail without streaking.

I have tons and tons of Essie favs and would love to share them all but that would take a very long time. So here are some of my favorite cool colors for this hot summer day.

The dark army/forest green color of Sew Psyched is one of the most popular colors this year. This color looks great with contrast against whites, tans, and light browns. I also love sporting this polish with more feminine tones such as peach and lavender.

Above and center is a better photo of Turquoise & Caicos. This shade is PERFECT for summer! Its light, it’s fresh, and it’s Turquoise! Doesn’t get much better than that! I love pairing it with other shades of green and blue but also works as a wonderful pop of color to a more neutral outfit.

If I was forced to wear one color nail polish for the rest of the year it would be Mint Candy Apple (below). It’s the most splendid shade of light blue with a flawless hint of mint. This color is bright and happy for summer, goes with everything, can carried into fall because of how amazing it looks against warmer tones, and then can slide into winter to match the cold colors of snow.

Last but not least, the brightest most royal blue around: Butler Please! now even though I have never painted all of my nails this color (I have to admit it is a bit bright for my taste) I love this for toe nails or an accent nail against a lighter blue. Butler Please is a fun summer color and another great choice for fall.

Comment with your favorite shade and I will paint my nails and make my next OOTD revolve around the most popular choice.

Make sure to check out my next OOTD post this Friday!

Refreshing Rains.

All of this summer rain we’ve been having is starting to make me feel like I live somewhere tropical! That must explain all of the bright colors and exotic prints I’ve been wearing lately! Wearing bright and refreshing colors on a grey-skyed day is a great way to lift your spirits.

I bought this beautiful silk top from Lucky Brand before school started last fall. Most of the time I pair it with dark wash skinny jeans and accessorize with my silver and gold watch and necklace.

I got this romper at Hollister since I was recently employed there and got 50% off of five items. I love the color and the simple pattern makes it easy to accessorize.

Last but not least, my tropical tank! I purchased this little beauty at Nordstrom Rack at the beginning of this summer. This top pairs nicely with white pants or tucked into high-waisted shorts.

Shopping in Chagrin Falls

I spent the day in Chagrin Falls, Ohio with my grandmothers yesterday, we ate lunch at Flip Side Grill and then the old ladies spoiled me a little bit with some shopping! First we went to one of the most known shops in Chagrin Falls, Fireside Book Shop, where I picked up a new read.

Like most of the books that I own,I picked this one up simply because I was intrigued by the cover/title. I’ve only read two books this summer and am currently stuck in the middle of one but I thought that a buying a new book would motivate me to finish the one I am reading.

After the book shop we walked through some more shops but nothing seemed to catch my eye until I walked into Passport to Peru where I purchased a cute little storage box and a small hanging banner for above the bed in my dorm.

Sundays and Stormy Days

Today is a me day. My weekend has been pretty crazy so I need to take a day for myself;  I have nothing on my agenda besides facials and painting (Check out some of my latest art projects on my Instagram)

I plan to lounge around in this comfy Free People tee shirt paired with some leggings that I don’t care about getting covered in paint.

I would also like to share my new favorite Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Polishing Facial Mask with the world. I use it twice a week to detox and exfoliate my skin. This stuff works wonders and completely refreshes my skin after crazy weekends of running around, sitting by campfires, and falling asleep with my makeup on!

My Free People tee shirt was another Nordstrom Rack purchase and I found my polishing mask at Ulta.

My Definition of Summer

Sum-mer (noun): The time of the year in which you can stop and smell the flowers while wearing your favorite dress

This is one of my favorite flower smelling dresses. I got this romantic little lace Free People dress on sale over spring break at the Free People store in Woodmere, Ohio. The color is nice and warm for summer but can also be carried into the fall.

The photos below are just some that I took in my gardens at home.

Favorite Fall Shirt

I was so excited when I came home with this shirt on Monday! And like always, the first thing I do when I get something new is put together as many outfits as possible with my new article of clothing! Usually I can find one or two good outfits for each new item, but this time I was blown out of the water! This shirt goes with almost every pair of my favorite pants and ALL of my favorite jewelry!!

Outfit Under $20

Yesterday I went to Plato’s Closet with a whole bin of clothes that have been taking up valuable space in my closet. I dropped off my bin and then started looking through racks and racks of other people’s used clothing until they were done evaluating mine. Most of it was geared towards middle-high schoolers (lots of Aeropostale, Hollister, and PINK) and there were a lot of summery clothes (which I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more of). I really didn’t think I would find anything worth my time… Until I came across a pair of brownish Juicy Couture corduroys. I love corduroys!! And these ones were only $10 and in great condition! I had to try them on!  but of course I can’t just try on the pants, I needed a shirt to try them on with. I walked over to the shirts and and fell in love with the first blouse I picked up! A multicolored/abstract printed blouse from The Limited!

I really didn’t think I would find such a versatile and classic outfit at Plato’s, they tend to buy trends and fads geared (they had loads and loads of tribal print, racks upon racks of black and white, and countless high-low dresses and skirts).

I also purchased a necklace from a store in the mall for a mere $3 that matched my style and this outfit perfectly!

I ended up spending around $18 on this outfit and only $15 at Plato’s (originally $22) because they decided to take only three articles of my wonderful clothing and offered me $6.50.

Also, check back tomorrow to see more outfits that I put together with my new shirt! I swear it goes with everything in my closet. I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of it this fall!
